How to Clean Your Stainless Steel Refrigerator

If you have a stainless steel refrigerator, you are proud to call it the centerpiece of your kitchen. When freshly cleaned, a stainless steel surface is aesthetically pleasing for all, but one covered in fingerprints and smudges is nothing more than an eyesore.

Luckily for you, cleaning your stainless steel refrigerator doesn’t have to be a long, complicated process. Just follow these steps!

What you will need

First things first: you need to gather your supplies. Fortunately, it doesn’t take any hi-tech supplies or fancy cleaning products to restore the shine of your stainless steel refrigerator. All you need is:

  • 3 microfiber cloths

  • An empty spray bottle

  • Dish detergent

  • Olive Oil

How to clean a stainless steel surface

Once you have your supplies in hand, just follow these five steps:

  1. In the spray bottle, combine a little bit of your dish detergent with warm water.

  1. Identify the direction of the grain. Like wood, stainless steel has faint striations that run left-to-right or up-and-down. Look closely at your refrigerator door to determine which way the grain runs on your appliance.

  1. Spray the stainless steel surface with your cleaning solution and use a microfiber cloth to wipe in the direction of the grain. This is a key part of getting the stainless steel fully clean.

  1. Once you have wiped down your whole refrigerator, use a second microfiber cloth to completely dry it. Avoid using paper towels, which leave behind linty streaks.

  1. Polish it for extra shine. Apply a few drops of olive oil on your third microfiber cloth and spread the oil around until it covers the entire surface. Then, buff the oil by applying pressure and moving the cloth in small, circular motions. Remove excess oil with a dry cloth.

No matter how sparkling clean and beautiful your stainless steel refrigerator is, it’s useless if it can’t keep your food cold. If you live on Long Island and are experiencing problems with your refrigerator, call the repair experts at Speedy Subzero at 866-782-9376.
