It wasn’t too long ago that your refrigerator was just a giant ice box meant to keep your food cold. If it had a water dispenser on the door, it was considered technologically advanced.
That all changed earlier this year when Samsung announced its latest Family Hub smart refrigerator. The appliances features a 21.5-inch touchscreen and offers some pretty futuristic features. Check out some of the things you will be able to do, just from your refrigerator:
Go grocery shopping. Browse groceries from your local market, add them to your cart, pay for them using a credit card, and have them delivered to your house. All without ever having to leave your kitchen.
Stream music. The Family Hub refrigerator comes preloaded with your favorite music apps, such as Pandora. Stream music to your kitchen through the appliances built-in speakers, or use its Bluetooth capabilities to wirelessly connect with an external speaker.
Custom cooling. The bottom-right compartment of the four door refrigerator is known as the FlexZone, Samsung’s versatile cooling compartment. This section can switch between five different temperature settings at the push of a button, making it the perfect place to store your frozen goods, raw meat, produce, or beer.
Check your inventory. At the grocery store and can’t remember if you need more milk? Not a problem. The refrigerator features three cameras that snap a picture of the interior every time the door is closed. If you need to see what foods need to be restocked, simply open an app on your smartphone and check from anywhere in the world.
If you want your refrigerator to come fully-equipped with features such as these, you will have to pay a pretty penny. The Family Hub refrigerator starts at $5,500.
